An art print for your wall

Time to provide the wall with new inspiration?

First of all, you have to decide whether you want to hang a painting or an art print or poster.

How or why to choose an art print?

You choose an art print if you:

  • like variety,
  • easily mix multiple styles together,
  • have a small budget but would still like to hang a work of high quality.

You choose a painting or original artwork if you:

  • want something in the house that no one else has,
  • have a somewhat larger budget,
  • want to vary on the wall in with original and art prints.

Flexible

An art print is flexible, you can easily change it and store it for a while. You can adapt your wall per season to the atmosphere you would like to have in your home.

For example, in the summer a fresh summer look, but in the winter an art print that fits better with a cozy warm and cozy atmosphere.

If an art print or painting hangs on the wall for a while, you will notice it less after a while. You can choose to hang the work from time to time, another place already provides new input / stimulus, so that it attracts attention again. With an art print you can easily switch so that you have something new to look at.

How do you choose the best artwork for your home?

When choosing the right painting or artwork you should pay attention to:

  • color,
  • size,
  • interaction with other decoration in your home.

In your interior, one color probably has the upper hand. It can be a warm color or a fresh color. Light or dark.

Imagine your interior mainly has blue-green tones. Then a blue-green work of art fits well with that of course.

But to prevent it from getting boring, it is also smart to look for a contrast.

Monochrome (light-dark)

Monochrome means that you use one color. For example, you only use blue colors and black and white. As you can see below, you can still hang very different works. This makes it easy to combine. This contrast is very versatile to use.

You can provide extra contrast by choosing a white or dark frame or alternating it.

You can provide extra contrast by choosing a white or dark frame or alternating it. Or by using a white passe-partout. (= the white border between the frame and the work).

Warm-Cold contrast

If you want to use a warm-cold contrast, choose a warm and a cold color that go well together. Warm colors are: yellow, orange, red, pink, ect. Cold colors are: blue, purple, green, ect.

In the examples below, the furniture has a warm color and the works on the wall have a cooler appearance. This contrast creates a real eye-catcher. You can use frames and accessories to bring the cool color back. For example, you can have a vase, bowl or decorative pillow come back in this blue color.

Quality contrast

This contrast is especially suitable for houses with a soft and neutral look. If you are looking for one color that fits well but also stands out, you create a real eye-catcher. It may also be that this is already the case in your interior. Then the choice is not difficult and you only have to look at a work of art with your accent color.

In this example, the color pink has been chosen as the accent color for the blue sofa. In the work is also a blue color visible. This creates a beautiful whole.

Choices

Take a good look at your interior and determine which contrast best suits your home.

If you have many different colors in your interior, and like to place many cheerful colors together, you can also opt for a through a white passe-partout or a neutral frame to create a little more peace and let the colors speak.
